Gyrotonic® in Vancouver (Point Grey)

Private and Duet Gyrotonic Sessions at b creative space

At b creative space, we offer private sessions in the Gyrotonic Method—a unique, full-body approach to movement that builds strength, mobility, and ease through fluid, supported motion.

Located in Point Grey on Vancouver’s west side, our sessions are designed to help you feel more connected, more open, and more at home in your body.

Sessions take place at our secondary location, just a few blocks from our main studio.

What is Gyrotonic?

Gyrotonic is a movement method performed on specialized equipment using pulleys, resistance, and guided motion.

Rather than isolating muscles, the body moves in continuous, three-dimensional patterns—integrating strength, mobility, and breath.

Many describe the experience as a blend of massage, swimming, and breathwork

You’re not passively receiving. You’re moving through each sensation—creating both release and support at the same time.

Originally developed to support dancers recovering from injury, the method helps the body become strong without becoming rigid, and mobile without losing stability.

Why Practice Gyrotonic?

Gyrotonic supports:

  • Improved posture and alignment

  • Greater mobility and joint health

  • Core strength and stability

  • Relief from tension and compression

  • A deeper sense of connection within the body

It’s especially supportive if you:

  • Practice yoga or Pilates

  • Feel tight, compressed, or fatigued

  • Are recovering from or managing injury

  • Want a more integrated, full-body approach to movement

What a Session Feels Like

Sessions are private and tailored to your body.

You’ll move through a series of guided exercises—seated, standing, and lying down—using the equipment to support and challenge you.

The experience is:

  • Fluid and rhythmic

  • Breath-led

  • Both strengthening and releasing

Many clients leave feeling:

  • Lighter and more spacious

  • Less tense or compressed

  • More connected and aligned

Our Gyrotonic Teachers

Sarah Mercer

Sarah brings a background in yoga and dance, with a deep curiosity about how the body moves and adapts.

Her approach is exploratory, intuitive, and grounded in sensation, helping clients build more integrated and connected movement patterns.

She is especially drawn to how Gyrotonic supports the fascial system through multidirectional movement and guided resistance.

Antonia Chiang

Antonia is the founder of b creative space and has devoted years to the study and teaching of Gyrotonic.

She was drawn to the method for its ability to build strength while maintaining freedom and range of motion, especially after experiencing injury within more rigid movement systems.

Her teaching emphasizes fluidity, safety, and helping the body return to a natural state of balance—where it feels both supported and free.

Sessions with Antonia are currently offered in Mandarin.

“Every session leaves me with a lighter body and a clearer mind… it feels like a massage, but you’re also strengthening and moving your body in a deeply supportive way.”

“Antonia is my favorite Gyrotonic and yoga teacher in Vancouver. I’ve been practicing with her for over two years, and each session is both relaxing and powerful. She creates a space that is thoughtful, supportive, and deeply attuned to each individual.”
