Sarah Mercer
Yoga + Gyrotonic
Sarah Mercer is a yoga teacher, Gyrotonic instructor, and dancer whose work is rooted in curiosity, exploration, and a deep respect for the body's capacity to move and adapt.
She completed her 200-hour Teacher Training at Ajna Yoga in Victoria in 2018 and has continued her studies through further training, Yogic Studies, and Yoganatomy. With a strong interest in both philosophy and anatomy, she is committed to making movement more accessible, meaningful, and sustainable.
Through her classes, Sarah aims to cultivate spaces for non-judgmental exploration of movement, encouraging a deeper connection between body, mind, and the world around us.
Alongside her yoga teaching, Sarah offers private sessions in the Gyrotonic Method.
If she had to sum up GYROTONIC® in a few words, it would be "posture in practice." Drawn to its fluid, multidirectional approach, Sarah appreciates how the method works with the body's natural movement patterns—spirals, waves, and three-dimensional motion—to support upright alignment, mobility, and ease.
In her own practice, she has experienced meaningful improvements in posture, along with a release of tension through the jaw, trapezius muscles, and tissues surrounding the spine. She is especially interested in how Gyrotonic complements many movement traditions she has studied, including yoga, somatic approaches such as the Alexander Technique and Feldenkrais Method, and the fascial concepts explored through Anatomy Trains.
Through private sessions, Sarah helps clients explore movement limitations related to posture, injury history, and areas that feel restricted or disconnected. Her approach is exploratory, anatomy-informed, and grounded in helping people feel more supported, integrated, and at home in their bodies.
Above all, she loves that the method is playful, energizing, and genuinely fun.
